Some Tips On How To Survive Christmas Travel

Out of all the holidays, travelling before Christmas holidays are the worst of all! To be honest, I once made the mistake of flying a day before Christmas, and I regret it till today. But that experience taught me a lesson which I learnt well, so to avoid all the airport chaos here are some tips to survive Christmas travel.

Prepare For The Worst

Just keep in mind that travelling over Christmas will be full of big travel hiccups! So far I have not experienced an incident-free Christmas trip. Be prepared for all the worst case scenarios in your mind. From getting stuck in traffic while going to the airport to missing your flight due to delays at the security checks, to losing luggage. Be prepared for it all! And if you reach your destination say with a slight delay of an hour then don’t fret about it and consider yourself lucky.

Stay Normal

Now that I have already told you that it’s going to be bad, one must figure out a way to stay sane among all the chaos. So my strategy to stay rational is by keeping some distraction or entertainment with me. Once I and my wife we were travelling to America to visit my parents and we got stuck at the airport for straight eight hours, so my wife bought a journal from the airport and starting writing her experience about it. Today she is the best-selling author of travel-o-mania. So to key to survive such problems is keep you sane by keeping yourself entertained.

Don’t Carry Too Much Luggage

Airports are jam packed over Christmas, meaning you have to wait in long queues. So the less luggage or hand carry you have with you, the less exhausted you will feel. I once made this mistake; I carried two large books along with my laptop in my backpack, and I had to wait for like an hour in the check-in, security and boarding queue. I felt so exhausted; it seemed that my back broke. So my honest and sincere advice carry less luggage, particularly in your hand.

Reach The Airport Early

When it’s Christmas time, trust me not only the airport is full of chaos even the roads that route towards the airport are packed with traffic. So it’s best that you reach the airport early, if you don’t want to miss your flight. Arrive early, so you can get through the check-in and security clearance easily. Most airports have a prayer area; I find it the perfect place to rest and avoid the chaos. One last piece of advice make sure you dress comfortably if you are not wearing a comfortable dress you might end up in an uncomfortable journey.
